Living in Austin, most folks around here have a long bucket list of things to do and experience (yes, I just said folks). We are always talking about new things we need to try…crazy festivals, the hottest new airstream trailer restaurant, or the best new live music show…to take advantage of living in this amazing city. Trouble is, life gets in the way and if you’re not a tourist, sometimes you forget to stop and make time to take in everything Austin has to offer. So this weekend, we decided to cross another item off the list with our friends, the annual kite festival at Zilker Park.
I’m so glad we did! It was a perfect day; the sun was shining, the breeze was blowing, and everyone was thrilled to be getting out of the house. Spring and summer are when this city truly comes to life, because so much of the culture revolves around outdoor activities. It was such a relaxing way to spend an afternoon in the city we love, and we were reminded once again why we make our home here…and why we love our friends.

Bulldogs get overheated easily, so we made sure to bring plenty of water for our baby girl.
She liked it.
I won’t tell you what a process it was to put this kite together. Instead of getting in the way, I decided to take pictures. It’s always the perfect excuse.
Then Kerbey decided she needed to help.
I just love the light in this one. I know, I’m such a nerd.
This is our attempt at flying the kite. It is so much harder than it looks!
Such a beautiful day!
